Overview
The RPF Certificate is an online, interactive course divided into six easy-to-navigate modules. The study time is approximately 10-15 hours. The RPF course teaches the foundational knowledge and the groundwork of retirement plan terminology and requirements.

Who It’s For
It is created for individuals who are new to the retirement industry or who want to start their path to earning a credential.

What It Takes

  • Pass six online modules to earn your RPF certificate.
  • Before enrolling in any ASPPA Training, please consult with your manager to discuss the time requirements, commitment involved, and the business need. This will ensure you have the necessary time and commitment to complete the course prior to enrolling.
  • Access to the course will be available for 180 days from the initial date of purchase.
  • If you are unable to complete the course in the allotted time, a one-time extension may be available under limited circumstances. Contact CE_Working_Group@capgroup.com for more information.

 

Registration

  • Click on the “Register for RPF Modules” button.
  • By using the registration button on the left, CG will be billed directly for the cost of your enrollment materials and exam.

Content
The RPF course consist of the following six modules:

Module 1: Lifecycle of a Plan

    • Benefits of offering and participating in employer-sponsored retirement plans
    • Plan provisions and features

Module 2: Contributions

    • Determining eligibility and entry dates
    • Contribution types
    • Enrollment

Module 3: Distributions

    • Distributable events
    • Notices and consents
    • Taxation and reporting

Module 4: Participant Loans

    • Laws that govern participant loans
    • Requirements for written loan provisions
    • Determining loan eligibility
    • Calculating the maximum loan amount

Module 5: Testing

    • Highly compensated employees
    • Minimum coverage testing
    • Annual contribution limits
    • Nondiscrimination testing
    • Top-heavy testing

Module 6: New Business

    • Conversion types and timelines
    • Coordinating responsibilities
    • Blackout period and blackout notice

Exam Information
Each of the six modules includes an assessment that you must pass. The assessments are open book, online, untimed, and allow unlimited attempts. There are 15-30 multiple choice questions per module.

Ongoing support while taking  RPF will be offered through Capital Group’s ASPPA Support Team. Email ASPPA Support Team (ASPPA_Support_Team@capgroup.com) and you will receive a response within 24 hours.

RPF module study time is estimated to take 10 – 15 hours, and you will be paid for that study time. You may use additional time (AT) or overtime (OT) to study after hours and on weekends. Please note that our first priority is to meet the business needs, so AT/OT will be used for work first. Please discuss specifics on how to schedule or document this time with your manager.
